Megasol® S40
Silica binder for refractory fibers
Megasol®S40 is a silica binder developed for bonding and rigidizing of refractory fiber shapes and boards. Megasol®S40’s unique physical properties result in higher packing densities and stronger bonds. Megasol®S40 has a higher surface area than Megasol®S50 resulting in optimum performance at lower silica to starch ratios. Replacing commonly used colloidal silica binders with Megasol®S40 yields 40% to 50% higher green and fired strength with better high temperature performance characteristics.

Megasol® S40 offers these advantages

Greater Product Strength - 40%-50% higher strengths than other commonly used colloidal silica binders.
Flexibility in Formulation - Creates stronger boards than other sols at silica-to-starch rations of 1:1 through 2:1..
Less Shrinkage at High Temperatures - Larger particles and low sodium content creates less sintering and less shrinkage at 2100oF - 2300oF use temperatures.
Saves Money - Higher green and fired strength means you can formulate using less starch and silica, lowering material costs.
